Aug 3, 2016

Whitley Stimpson, one of the largest independent accountancy firms in the area with offices in Banbury, Bicester, High Wycombe and Witney has been named as one of the top ten accountancy employers in the country.

Jonathan Walton, director at the firm said: “To be recognised as a nationwide leader in our industry is the icing on the cake for us. We have always invested in our staff through training and providing progressive career paths, and we are delighted to be named as one of the best employers, particularly as part of the survey was devoted to the opinions of our staff.

“We value every employee highly and we believe it shows through to the outstanding level of service we strive to give to our customers.”

The award was announced by Accountancy Age, the leading publication in the accountancy world, in its 2016 Best Employers survey.

Kevin Reed, Accountancy head of editorial, said: “Our Best Employer award process is robust and vigorous, so the top firms this year should be very proud that their employees think so highly of their workplace.”

Whitley Stimpson, which has also been ranked as one of the top 100 practices in the country in an earlier Accountancy Age survey, is dedicated to training and staff improvement, and some of its directors began their professional careers with the company.

It takes part in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ Higher Apprenticeship scheme to open up new ways for people to follow a career in accountancy.  The firm are soon to announce the appointment of their first apprentice through this initiative.

Whitley Stimpson Human Resources Manager, Tracy Williams, said: “We are noted for our investment in training and this route has been successful because those with ambition can earn while they learn higher business skills.”

The company is noted for high service levels for businesses and individuals, including specialisations in areas such as education and agriculture, and supports the community through sport and the arts across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

The company is now in line for the overall Best Company Award, which will be announced in November this year.
