My experience

This job is my first taste of the accounting industry, however I have gained valuable experience from a variety of previous jobs, which has already helped me in understanding some of the things I come across in accounts day-to-day. I have experience in both a high street travel agency and an independent, specialist operator, as well as experience in plumbing and heating, carpentry, construction, delivery, catering and retail.

Describe what you do at Whitley Stimpson

My job currently involves the basic preparation of accounts, tax returns, and VAT returns for businesses of all sizes, partnerships, sole traders and individuals. Alongside this I have now begun training for my ACCA qualification.

Being from Bicester I had heard good things about Whitley Stimpson, and knew it was a reputable, nice-sized firm that looks after its employees and has a good program for trainees. My first impression proved me right as it has been a wonderful company to work for with helpful and welcoming colleagues, and a role that has allowed me to work with and learn about a variety of clients and aspects of accountancy.

What matters to you?

It is important to me to have a steady and reputable career that I can be proud of, whilst providing the best service possible to clients. I hope to achieve my ACCA qualification and continue to improve my knowledge. Outside of work I have a young family that I love spending time with, as well as enjoying travelling when I can, and keeping fit by playing football.
