Management Accountant – Banbury

Whitley Stimpson has an exciting opportunity in our Banbury office. We are looking for a part-time (22.50 hours) Management Accountant  to join our growing and friendly team.

The role

You will provide Bookkeeping services primarily for one of our key clients who operates companies across various sectors. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial records for several entities under one client. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the team ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and smooth financial operations across all companies.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain accurate financial records using Xero for multiple companies under one client.
  • Process invoices, receipts, payments, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare VAT returns and assist with HMRC submissions.
  • Support monthly and quarterly management reporting.
  • Liaise directly with the client to gather financial information and resolve queries.
  • Collaborate with the wider accountancy team to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with auditors if required.
  • Keep client Managers informed at all times of job status.

About you

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting principles and VAT regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero).
  • Ability to manage multiple sets of books and prioritise tasks effectively.

Additional Preferences

  • Previous experience of working within an accountancy practice environment.
  • AAT qualification (or working towards).
  • Driving Licence: Ability to travel to client premises.
