Senior tax appointment for Whitley Stimpson

Accountancy and business advisors Whitley Stimpson has appointed Mike Shearan as senior tax manager, bringing nearly three decades of specialist tax experience to the firm’s clients.

Mike joins from James Cowper Kreston where he was senior tax manager and prior to that worked at Grant Thornton as a senior advisory tax manager.

In his new role, Mike will support the directors and colleagues across the Whitley Stimpson Banbury and Witney offices working with owner managed businesses and larger management led businesses across Oxfordshire and throughout the UK.

Mike specialises in helping clients navigate through complex tax matters, from starting or selling a business to issuing shares to raise new funds and planning estates to protect family wealth. His particular expertise lies in shareholdings in private companies and technology businesses, including share investments and their tax benefits, share sales, and employee share incentive arrangements such as share options.

Mike’s appointment forms part of Whitley Stimpson’s continued investment in talent. The firm has welcomed four new trainees this year: Elizabeth Appleyard, Harry Meehan, Elliot Stagg, and Mark Kersley-Rooke, who will benefit from the firm’s well-established and respected training and development programme.

Whitley Stimpson’s commitment to its people is further evidenced by four members of staff celebrating significant long service milestones. John Vidler has reached an impressive 40 years with the company, Laura Adkins marks 20 years, whilst Jacqui Foster and Jamie Abbotts both celebrate 10 years of service.
