Banbury Cricket Club makes history

Aug 28, 2013

Whitley Stimpson congratulates Banbury Cricket Club for reaching the ECB National Club Twenty20 Finals Day for the first time in the Club’s history, taking place at the Kia Oval and broadcast live on Sky Sports on Friday 13 September 2013.

Banbury travelled to Peterborough Town and won by just three wickets with two balls remaining as the Premier League Team held their nerve to make it through to Finals Day.

“There is an unusual feeling of excitement in our Banbury and High Wycombe offices about Friday the 13th,” comments Owen Kyffin, Partner, Whitley Stimpson.  “We would like to congratulate everyone involved at the Club who have helped the team to reach Finals Day and can only hope they follow in the same footsteps as our U13 girls’ team last year who were triumphant in a national competition showing great flair, technique and sportsmanship.”

Success is certainly rife at Banbury Cricket Club as the same girls have progressed to form the basis of the U15 girls’ team, recently through to the Lady Taverners National Finals, and the Banbury Ladies team won the ECB Midland Division 2.  Not to be out performed, the boys’ team are current County Champions.

Preparations are underway for Banbury’s debut at the Kia Oval, which will see the team take-on reigning champions, Wimbledon, in the first Semi Final of the day.  The winning team will face either Chester le Street or Ormskirk in the Final.

The schedule for matches is:

Semi Final 1 – Wimbledon v Banbury (12:30pm)
Semi Final 2 – Chester le Street v Ormskirk (3:30pm)
Final – Winner SF1 v Winner SF2 (7:00pm)
