Whitley Stimpson’s payroll administrator Maddi Cooper has been awarded Apprentice of the Year in the national LUCA Awards 2020.
The prestigious annual LUCA Awards are ‘The Oscars of the bookkeeping world’ and the winners were announced at an online ceremony on the 17th November.
The LUCA Awards recognise outstanding achievement in the bookkeeping profession and reveal the favourite software and apps of the nation’s bookkeepers.  They are part of the Global Bookkeeping Week which is hosted by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and supported by the major names in accounting software and fintech.
Maddi Cooper attended the virtual event which consisted of a ‘virtual happy hour’ with networking with fellow nominees, followed by a ‘virtual awards ceremony’ and explains:

“It was very unexpected, but I am glad that I attended the live ceremony to receive the award virtually.”

Maddi joined Whitley Stimpson’s payroll department in 2018 working as an apprentice payroll administrator, joining after completing her GCSE’s.  She was the fifth person in the country to sign up to the new Level 3 apprentice scheme for payroll administrators and took her exams six months earlier than anticipated.
Val Buzzard, director at Whitley Stimpson and head of the payroll department said:

“We are absolutely delighted that Maddi has won this impressive award, which is testament to her hard work and dedication. I have no doubt Maddi has a very bright future ahead.”
