Whitley Stimpson hosts Making Tax Digital seminar in Witney

Sep 26, 2018

Whitley Stimpson, who have recently opened a new office on the Witney High Street, hosted a Making Tax Digital seminar (MTD) at the Witney Blanket Hall earlier this month to raise awareness of the impending changes.

MTD will, among other things, mean that owners of a VAT registered business above the threshold of £85,000 will have to keep digital records and submit VAT returns using compatible software from 1st April 2019.

Following on from their successful seminars earlier in the year in Ayno and High Wycombe, Witney manager Luke Wiseman delivered an interesting and detailed presentation on the implications of MTD as well as a broad look at what it will mean for businesses and individuals.

Alongside Luke, was Lee Cotton, a national account manager for Xero. Lee explained to guests how Xero’s online accountancy software can be effectively used to make the MTD transition a smooth one.

The seminar allowed guests the chance to learn from each other as well as the speakers with breakfast networking sessions directly before. Multiple members of Whitley Stimpson’s offices were in attendance and offered their thoughts on the impending MTD shift.

Witney director Laura Adkins said: “The seminar was a great success – it was so good to see a packed room all leaving happy with a greater understanding of MTD and how we can help.”
